- The tile, vanities, countertops, mirrors and hardware for all the bathrooms are done. Ubatuba granite in the master bath looks good. I kinda wished we had done granite in all the bathrooms. The framed glass showers in the master and 1st floor guest bath looks cheap. I didn't know that soap dishes were included with the ceramic tile. I don't like it. I've asked the PM to have them removed.
- The central vac is already installed. I am looking forward to using this in the new house.
- The kitchen cabinets are also up. I was second guessing myself about choosing Scottsdale espresso cabs for the kitchen but with them installed. I am loving them. One of the base cabinets doors is cracked, they have to replace that.
- Crown molding for the foyer, crown molding and chair rail for the formal dining room are installed. The molding really makes both areas look finished. Hubby was surprised at how much he liked the look.
- The fireplace mantel is done also. It is pretty but is kinda puny in my opinion. This will be a future project for us but in the meantime it is acceptable.
- Thermostats are up. The Verona only came with 1 thermostat standard but we insisted that they add another one for the second floor.
- The hardwood staircase is in. It needs to be stained though. My husband is loving the look of the naked wood though.
- All the appliances are delivered but not installed yet.
- Lastly, they have finished installing all the hardwood throughout the 1st and 2nd floor of the house. I was there when they were in the middle of doing the flooring in the family room. Sunlight was streaming into the windows and it made the floor gleam! I loved the effect.

Very late update.
Although we have been visiting the build site at least once a week, I haven't been updating this blog. Life has been hectic, to say the least. Anyway, as of last Saturday, this is what have been done:

Wow! This is awesome Carly!! So much has been done in such little time! I can't wait to see the hardwood floors throughout. We were TOLD the ROME could not have been them. Everything is looking gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nadase. I'm still envious of your espresso floors. Can't wait to see your HWF.
DeleteOh what a bummer that you didn't know about the soap dishes ahead of time. I got lucky and read about it on a few blogs. Hopefully they can remove them for you without a problem.
ReplyDeleteI love the cabinets and can't wait until we are at that point in our build. We got the Scottsdale Maple Espresso too!
It is a bummer. They are UGLY!
DeleteThis looks amazing! We chose the same cabinets and felt the same way about the fire place so we decided to add the stone. Is it just the soap dish that makes te shower look cheap or also the nickel frame? Just wondering bc we got rid of the dish but have the nickel.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany, the soap dish looks hideous on the designer ceramic surround; however, it's perfect for the same material for the traditional ceramic. IMHO, the frames are cheap too! I plan to go with DWtimes2 idea and get a seamless shower installed they are so beautiful! Check out her post. They are gorgeous!
DeleteHi Tiffany! We would have loved the stone fireplace. Money for that option (and some) went to HWF all over the house. I'm not sure how the framed shower enclosure would look in your area. But in our area, they look flimsy and cheap. I'll get a picture of the shower door the next time I go to the house so you can get an idea.
DeleteThanks for your opinion....we had the soap dish removed but don't have the seamless shower. So, I guess we'll see what happens...did you go with the seamless shower as one of your changes or something you will do down the road?
ReplyDeleteI actually did ask them to replace the shower doors with frameless ones. Our SR told us to have it done after we move in because it will be cheaper than having it done through RH. But the thought of replacing a perfectly serviceable item is just wasteful to me.
DeleteYeah, those soap dishes are criminal with the upgraded tile. I blame RiteRug reps for not taking their opportunity to sell you shelves which match your tile in the shower. We knew to take out the cheap ones because they would not match. We did not think to ask what we could get. No big deal - We got some oil rubbed bronze shower shelves and it's nice.
ReplyDeleteOnce your hardwoods are down you're going to love the fireplace. Somehow it pulls it out and makes it so lovely. Your house is looking beautiful!
Thanks Tammi. I wasn't too happy with the flooring company RH used in our area. It's like they're not in the business of selling at all.
