Pre- drywall Walkthrough done!

Pre-drywall walkthrough is done!  We also did the pre-drywall inspection done by an independent inspector.   No major issue were found.  But my husband and I did have a problem with the location of the attic access.  When they started framing the house, I had called the PM and requested that the attic access be out in the laundry room and he said "no problem."  But they had put the access through one of the bedrooms.  Not good at all.  The PM said it would be no problem to move it.  I hope so.

On a positive note, we met some of the neighbors.  They had two kids aged 6 and 4.  Our kids seemed to hit it off with them.  Yay!

We took a LOT of pictures and video of the pipes, wiring and other stuff that will be hidden once the drywall is up.  Hope that is enough since we won't be getting the blueprints.

  1. Hi Carly, your house looks gorgeous with the front porch. What was he focus of the pre dry wall through and how long did you guys spend in your meeting? It's good thing you caught the attic access door in time for them to move it. We will have our attic access in the laundry room which is great--not in the bedrooms interfering with my decor. :-)

    1. We started the walk through 1pm and finished around 3:30. Our inspector got there ahead of time and was able to look through the house before we got there but he went through the walk through with us and the PM too. The focus was on the ducting, plumbing and electricals. If you got anything through Guardian, this is also the time where you tell them where the security system, the internet and tv cables will be. If you have an interior lighting plan, this is the time to double check if they did it right. Also, if you plan on mounting tv's on the wall or do grab bars in the bathrooms, this is the time to tell your PM about it so he could reinforce those areas too. I am not sure if you need to reinforce the areas for your custom closets too but I think you need to mention that to your PM as well.

    2. Thanks. I'm sure your house will look beautiful. I would have loved some sort of brick or stone facade but we were already way over budget on the upgrades and something had to give.

  2. Glad to hear that your kids are already making friends. That was the hardest part about moving ours from our old neighborhood. Fortunately, they have made friends here, too.
Our attic access is in one of the front bedrooms because we didn't have the forethought to have it moved to the laundry room. I really wish we would have thought of it, but hindsight is 20/20.

    1. I'm relieved actually. My little boy is speech delayed and that is making (I believe) him have a hard time relating to other children his age. So that is so huge for us.
